BorWin Beta Offshore Wind Farm

The 800 megawatt BorWin2 High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) converter platform foundation consists of a base frame weighing approximately 3000 mT with an integrated Cable Access Tower (CAT) and six foundation piles. The base frame is fabricated by Nordic Yards Wismar, Germany and installed by the DP3 vessel “Oleg Strashnov” of Seaway Heavy Lifting in the German sector of the North Sea in June 2013.

Siemens AG has installed for TenneT Offshore GmbH the self floating substation onto the foundation. The converter platform will connect the Veja Mate and GlobalTech1 wind parks to the German high voltage electricity grid.
